The Importance of Stories

At the heart of our Christian faith is a story.

As Andrew Peterson proclaims at the beginning of his annual "Behold the Lamb" Christmas concerts: "It's an adventure story about a young hero who comes from a far country to win back his lost treasure. It's a love story about the brave prince who leaves his palace, his throne, everything to rescue the one he loves. It's like the most wonderful of fairy tales that has come true in real life. You see the best thing about this story is it's true. There are lots of stories in the Bible, but all of these stories are telling one big story: The story of how God loves his children and comes to rescue them."

More than anything, AIM is a story. It's the story of how God called ordinary people to reach-out to others, both near and far, with His love. It's the story of the people God has given us the privilege to love, serve and work beside around the world. It's the story of the people who have been swept up by these stories and joined us in the love, service, work and friendships which flow from such efforts.

To know AIM is to know its stories. And, hopefully, through these stories, you too will be swept up in AIM's story and its effort to share God's love with others.

To that end, we have created this blog as a means of sharing AIM's stories with you. For the first several weeks, AIM's Team Leaders will share the stories of how God led them to the people they now love and serve through their work with AIM. Once those stories have been told, we will share additional stories of how God is working through AIM and its Teams to share His love and build friendships around the world.

We hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as we have enjoyed living them. We also hope that God calls you to take your part in His story and to use your life to share His love with others.
